Thoughts on Gratitude
Gratitude can feel like a heavy word when you’re in the midst of loss and grief.
Some days, it may seem impossible to find anything to be thankful for when the pain feels so intense. It’s okay to sit with that ~ grief is complicated, and there’s no right or wrong way to experience it. But even in the most difficult moments, there may still be small moments of gratitude ~ perhaps in the memories you hold dear, the support you receive, or the quiet resilience you discover within yourself.
It’s not about forcing gratitude, but allowing it to appear in its own time and way.
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting, and gratitude doesn’t mean pretending the hurt isn’t real.
It’s simply about finding small moments of light, however small, in the midst of the darkness.
And when you’re ready, embracing those moments can help guide you forward.
As we settle into the holiday season, I’m intentionally focusing on my current patients, medical writing, and creating space to find balance and joy in this chapter.
The holidays can be tough, especially when dealing with grief and loss. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember: it’s okay to not feel okay. You’re not alone. Even though at times it may feel that way.
We remember the love that transcends loss.
Grief is complicated. Gratitude in its own time.
It’s okay to feel broken, but remember, you have the power to heal.
Life after loss can be beautiful.
